Three-day Workshop on Chemical Security Risk Management - Expanding India's Academic Excellence

Indian Chemical Council (ICC) and Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai (formerly UDCT) in cooperation with Sandia National Laboratories' International Chemical Threat Reduction (ICTR) supported by the U.S. Department of State Chemical Security Program is organizing Three-day Workshop on "CHEMICAL SECURITY RISK MANAGEMENT - EXPANDING INDIA'S ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE" on 10, 11 & 12 (Friday, Saturday & Sunday), April 2015. The venue of the 3-day program is the Presidential Ballroom, Hotel Vivanta by Taj - President, 90 Cuffe Parade, Mumbai - 400005.

OBJECTIVE

This workshop will incorporate the international best practices and standards for the implementation of chemical safety and security. The objectives of this event are:

  • Create awareness of the need for chemical risk management cultural building within academic programs;
  • Establish a framework and norms for what chemical risk management should encompasses:
      • Risk Analysis,
      • Implementation of Risk Reduction Measures and
      • Performance Effectiveness
  • Provide a clear understanding of support tools and
  • Provide teach-back materials to enable participants to incorporate lessons learned from this workshop into their own curriculum.

PROGRAM

During first two-days, Presentations will be made by experts from Sandia National Laboratories, U.S.A. whereas on third day, during morning session there will be 4 presentations from Indian Experts.  This will be mixture of lecture, discussion and exercise. The third day's program will be focused on development of a syllabus to outline a graduate level course focusing on chemical risk management. This syllabus and supporting materials will be provided to each participant to enable them to develop a customized program for their institution.

Ganeshan, Program Director, Asia-Pacific, Center for Chemical Process Safety, Mr. Vijay Bukkawar, Director (HSE & Responsible Care), Indian Chemical Council and Mr. R. Sriram, HSE Manager, Indian Additives Limited will participate and make presentations.
